Common Questions

We know choosing assisted living is a big step. Here are answers to the questions we hear most from families like yours.

Yes. Bright Hands Assisted Living is licensed by the Maryland Office of Health Care Quality at Level 3 — the highest care-complexity tier for a Maryland assisted living program — and inspected annually.

Maryland licenses assisted living programs at Level 1, Level 2, or Level 3, based on the complexity of care a home is permitted to deliver. Level 3 is the highest tier and allows care for residents with significant medical needs, advanced dementia, or complex medication regimens. Bright Hands holds a Level 3 license , so residents can remain with us as their needs grow — avoiding the disruption of another move. For a full explanation of how our small home accommodates residents with dementia, see our memory care page.

Bright Hands is an owner-operated home. Nimmi Perera — a Maryland Assisted Living Manager, CMT, and CNA with more than 10 years of senior-care experience — is the resident care manager and is directly responsible for daily care, medication administration, and family communication. With a maximum of five residents, families know exactly who is caring for their loved one every day.

We accept private pay, private insurance, SSI, and SSDI. We do not bill Medicaid, the Community Options waiver, or VA A&A directly. Families often apply personal savings, LTC-insurance benefits, or VA A&A income toward our monthly rate.
